Men's Volleyball Outdone by Newbury

Franklin, MASS.-  The Dean College Bulldogs fell behind early and never recovered, losing 3-0 to Newbury College at Pieri Gym on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs lost the first two sets 25-14 and 25-13, but stormed back in the final set leading most of the way.  Newbury responded down the stretch and was able to sneak out a 25-22 victory that gave them the set and the match.  

Dean was led by Moussa Seck, who had 5 kills on 23 attempts.  Pepe Vieira led the Bulldogs with 12 digs and Gabriel McClain had 5 assists.

Joshua Thorne excelled for the Nighthawks.  He had 9 kills, 6 service aces and 7 digs.  Tyler Polite and Matt Sepe also had 4 killds for Newbury, with Polite adding 7 digs and Sepe adding 4.  Oscar Chavez had 15 assists and 5 service aces.

The loss drops Dean to 2-5 on the year.  The win was the first for Newbury, improving their record to 1-3. 

Next up for the Nighthawks is a doubleheader with Johnson and Wales and Wentworth on Saturday at Wentworth.

Dean plays a doubleheader this Saturday at Mt. Ida, against the hosts and Pratt.
