Shannon Rosensteel (Sunrise, Fla.) erupted for a career-high 26 points and Dean College pulled away in the second half to take down Wheelock College, 68-54, in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's basketball action on Thursday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Ahead just 33-30 at halftime, the host Bulldogs used a 19-6 third quarter to seize control of the game on their way to the convincing victory.
Rosensteel (8) herself outscored the Wildcats (6) in the decisive period as she made both of her shot attempts and all four of her free throws.
Wheelock, meanwhile, struggled to find offensive flow in the frame, going just 1-for-11 from the field, missing their final eight shots and committing seven turnovers.
Dean put together the game-sealing 13-0 run midway through the period as all of Rosensteel's points in the period came during that stretch and when Nicole Romero (Winchendon, Mass.) scored as the quarter wound down, the Bulldogs were ahead 52-34 and well on their way to victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Dean controlled the interior, holding a 46-26 edge on the glass and a 44-20 advantage on points in the paint.
Katie Walsh led the Wheelock offensive attack with 16 points, while Emma Siver (13) and Holly O'Sullivan (11) joined her in double figures.
In addition to Rosensteel's huge night, the Bulldogs got ten points off the bench from Sophia Corbitt (Framingham, Mass.) and nine points, six rebounds and five assists from Iindia Pina (Carver, Mass.).
Morgan Turner (Winter Park, Fla.), meanwhile, grabbed a game-best 13 rebounds.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday when they play host to Bay Path, while the Wildcats step out of league play for a home date against Pine Manor.
