Franklin, Mass. – In the midst of one of the best scoring stretches in recent memory, Dean College men's basketball star senior Jordan Booker (Waterbury, Conn.) was named the recipient of both regional and national weekly honors it was announced earlier this week.
Booker was named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's basketball player of the week on Monday and then on Tuesday he earned a spot on the D3Hoops.com National Team of the Week.
All of these accolades come on the heels of a pair of spectacular individual performances for the two-time All-American guard who has the Bulldogs on a four-game winning streak.
Booker averaged 35.5 points, 8.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals playing 74 out of a possible 80 minutes. He shot 61.5 percent from the field - including 65 percent from behind the arc (13-for-20).
In a 107-98 win over Elms, Booker finished with 34 points, four rebounds and eight assists. Then in a 91-55 triumph over Becker, he tied his career-high with 37 points, eight assists, four rebounds and three steals.
The NECC honor for Booker is the fifth time in his career that he has received the weekly award from the league but marks the first time he has received recognition for D3Hoops.com, widely regarded as the premier information point for Division III basketball news.
A two-time first-team all-conference selection, Booker leads the NECC in scoring (24.3) and assists (7.0) and ranks second in steals (2.3).
Booker and the Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday evening with a meeting on the road at Eastern Nazarene. Tipoff is slated for 7:00 PM.
