Traijan Powell
(Sierra Vista, Ariz.) drilled the go ahead three-pointer with 16 seconds left and visiting Dean College pulled off a huge league win, knocking off Eastern Nazarene, 83-82, in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's basketball action on Wednesday evening.

The win for the Bulldogs is even more impressive when you consider they posted a 117-87 road win over Pine Manor less than 24 hours before and the victory puts them one game behind the Lions and New England College for first-place in the conference standings.

Dean actually led by as many as 17 points at the end of the first half, as Jordan Booker (Waterbury, Conn.) scored 22 of his team-best 28 points in the first half.

Down 51-38 at the half, Eastern Nazarene methodically trimmed their deficit as Noah Cheney and Josh Rice combined for 22 second half points. When Jacob Waldroop scored inside and then Garrett Crandall made a pair of free throws with a little more than a minute remaining in regulation, the Lions were in front 82-80 - their first lead since the opening seconds of the contest.

Each team traded traveling violations, giving the Bulldogs possession and that's when Booker found Powell in the left corner for what turned out to be the game-winning three-pointer.

Booker had a strong all-around performance, ending with 28 points, seven assists and eight steals, while Powell came off the bench to finish with 13 points. Jordan Lynch-Rexroth (Harrisburg, Pa.) hit several key shots to rack up 16 points in just 20 minutes of action.

The Lions' Cheney led all scorers with 31 points.

Dean returns to action on Saturday with another key league matchup against New England College. Tipoff is slated for 2:00 PM.
