THE LEAD:
Visiting New England College controlled the interior and held Dean College to 25 percent shooting and the Pilgrims posted a wire-to-wire 72-56 win over the Bulldogs in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
After NEC held Dean scoreless for the first three minutes of the game and to just eight points in the first quarter, the visitors surged ahead with a 23-point second quarter that sent them into halftime with a 37-18 lead.

That advantage ballooned to as many as 32 late in the third quarter after the Pilgrims held the Bulldogs without a made basket for nearly nine minutes in the frame.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Brianna Pierreval
and Rene Hudson each had 16 points for NEC, who held a 59-33 edge on the glass.

Dean was paced by the 21-point, ten-rebound effort from Makayla Rudder (Springfield, Mass.), while Sadie Homer (North Easton, Mass.) had 17 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals.

UP NEXT:
The Bulldogs are off until after the new year when they travel to Anna Maria for a non-league affair on Saturday, January 4 at 1:00 PM.
