Despite a career best performance from freshman forward Alexah Potter (East Hartford, Conn.), the Dean College Bulldogs fell behind early against league rival Becker College and never managed to recover, dropping the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) contest 73-55 on Saturday in Leicester, Mass.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Becker jumped out to a 5-0 lead and raced to a 15-7 first quarter lead.
The hosts extended the lead to 35-22 at the end of the first half, paced by 11 points from Riley Berry off the bench.
Becker continued to control the action in the third quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 20-14 to increase their advantage to 55-36 heading into the fourth quarter. Potter chipped in 10 points in the third frame to guide the Bulldogs.
Dean outscored the Hawks 19-18 in the fourth quarter, but could not overcome the deficit as Becker cruised to a 73-55 final.
