Women's Basketball Drops League Battle To NEC, 84-50

New England College jumped on the visiting Dean College Bulldogs, speeding to a 22-9 first quarter lead and never looking back en route to a 84-50 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) victory on Saturday in Henikker, N.H.

NEC used a 7-2 run to turn a 4-4 game early into a 13-6 advantage.  The Pilgrims stretched our their lead to 22-9 late in the quarter and entered the second quarter with the 13 point advantage. 

The Bulldogs settled in during the second quarter, trading hoops with the Pilgrims for the majority of the quarter.  A late bucket from Rene Hudson gave the hosts a 37-22 lead at the halftime break. 

New England College stepped on the gas early in the third quarter, rattling off a 15-4 run to take a 52-26 lead and take control of the game. 

Dean battled back in the fourth quarter, but could not close the deficit enough to get back within striking distance. 

Makayla Rudder (Springfield, Mass.) led the Bulldogs with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Alexah Potter (East Hartford, Conn,) chipped in nine points and six rebounds while Stephanie Conrad (Bedford, N.H.) scored eight points in all 40 minutes of action. 

Dean travels to Eastern Nazarene on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
