Makayla Rudder (Springfield, Mass.) erupted for a school-record 51 points and visiting Dean College used a huge third quarter to sprint past Lesley University, 93-51, in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.

Rudder's point total is the most in single game in a NCAA Division III game this year and the second-most in a game in any Division (I, II, III) this season. Division II Virginia Union's Shereka McNeil scored 55 points in a win over Livingstone on November 21.

The game was tied at 29-29 at the half when the Bulldogs outscored the Lynx, 33-13, on their way to snapping a six-game losing streak.

Rudder was the key factor in the second half surge, scoring 36 of her points in the final 20 minutes – 19 of which came in the game-changing third period.

She opened the quarter scoring eight of the Bulldogs first ten points as part of a 22-7 spurt that put them in front, 51-36 with 3:04 left in the frame.

Rudder continued scoring in the fourth, scoring 11 straight points at one point as the Bulldogs saw their lead balloon to as many as 42 in the final seconds.

In addition to her 51 points, Rudder added ten rebounds, six steals and shot a sizzling 22-for-36 from the field.

Teammate Alexah Potter (Hartford, Conn.) chipped in with her fifth career double-double (16 points, 12 rebounds) as the Bulldogs topped 90 points for the first time since February 17, 2017.

Dakota Jones led Lesley University with 28 points and 24 rebounds.

Dean is back in action on Tuesday when they host to Elms College. Tipoff is slated for 6:00 PM.
