Mansfield, Mass. – For the second time this season, Makayla Rudder (Springfield, Mass.) has been named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's basketball player of the week it was announced earlier this week by the league office.
Rudder's honor comes following a record-breaking performance in Saturday's win over Lesley University that snapped a six-game losing streak.
In the 93-51 win over the Lynx she pumped in a school-record 51 points to go along with ten rebounds and six steals while playing all 40 minutes. Rudder made 22 of 36 field goals and all six of her free throws.
Earlier in the week, Rudder racked up 22 points and eight rebounds while again playing all 40 minutes in a setback against Eastern Nazarene.
For the week, she averaged 36.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals while playing all 80 possible minutes.
Rudder, who has started all 18 games she has played in this season, ranks in the top five in the conference in scoring (19.0), rebounding (10.1) and field goal percentage (44.5).
Dean returns to action on Thursday when they step out of conference for a non-league meeting with Albertus Magnus. Game time is slated for 7:00 PM.
