Despite monster double-doubles from both Alexah Potter (Hartford, Conn.) and Makayla Rudder (Springfield, Mass.), Dean College dropped a hard-fought 79-67 non-conference decision to Fitchburg State on Tuesday evening in women's basketball action.
Potter racked up 21 points and 15 rebounds, while Rudder registered her fourth career 30-point performance with 30 points and 14 rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Falcons led wire-to-wire, connecting on 12 three-pointers in the contest – eight of which came from Angelina Marazzi.
A 22-14 second quarter gave Fitchburg State a 40-30 halftime lead, but from that point on the game was pretty much even but the Bulldogs never got closer than eight points the rest of the way.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Marazzi led four Falcons in double figures with 30 points, while Catherine Coppinger ended with 13 points and a game-best 20 rebounds.
Both Lindsey McDonald and Emma Thomson had 14 for FSU, while Stephanie Conrad (Bedford, N.H.) came off the bench for the Bulldogs and finished with nine points, going 3-for-5 from behind the arc.
Dean returns to action on Thursday when they host Lesley University for a 7:30 PM start.
