Women's Basketball Bests Lesley In NECC Action, 97-65

THE LEAD:
Winners of two of their last three, the Dean College Bulldogs used a 48 point game from sophomore Makayla Rudder (Springfield, Mass.) to overwhelm visiting Lesley University 97-65 on Thursday at Pieri Gymnasium in Franklin, Mass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Bulldogs scored three seconds into the opening frame and led nearly wire to wire, taking a 19-11 after the first period.  The Bulldogs controlled the second period as well, outscoring the Lynx 27-18 to enter the half with an eighteen point advantage.

Dean continued their dominance in the second half, outpacing the Lynx by 15 over the course of the final two quarters to cruise to a 97-65 victory. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Rudder's 48 points led all scorers, while her 14 rebounds were second only to Dakota Jones' 19 for the visitors.  Jones also added 30 points while Sydnie Drezek pitched in 30 in the losing effort.

In addition to Rudder's huge performance, Dean got double digit scoring performances from Alexah Potter (East Hartford, Conn.) (13 points), Marcenzya Melvin (Providence, R.I.) (11 points), and Sitaara Muhammad (Cambridge, Mass.) (10 points).
